Artist Bio
Maria-Paz was born in Santiago, Chile in 1971 where she spent her childhood.
She left home and moved to Toronto in 1985.
In August of 2003, she and her family moved to Calgary where she started discovering her creative side.
Maria-Paz fell in love with the texture achieved by painting with a Pallet Knife and vibrant oils.
She enjoys painting the simple beauty of Birch trees so common in Alberta, her new home.
She also loves the contrast of the knife texture versus the softness of wild flowers and the play of colors and composition in her abstract paintings.
Her Latin background, as well as her faith are evident in the passion and emotion found in her work.
Maria-Paz’s work has been exhibited at Avenida Art Gallery, Harlequin Art Gallery and several Calyx and other art shows.
Maria-Paz is currently represented at Willow Studio in the trendy neighborhood of Kensington, and at other local businesses in town.
